Below is a multidimensional scaling map made using last.fm user data. It places bands who are listened to by more users closer together.

Two dimensions are shown at any one time, but there are six to choose from. You can change the horizontal dimension by pressing the - and = keys. The vertical dimensions can be changed by using the [ and ] keys.

You can see which artist a point represents by rolling the mouse over that point. Larger points correspond to more popular artists.

Sometimes, artists are very close together, making it hard to see which is which. You can zoom in and out using the A and Z keys, and move the view around using the cursor keys.
